As a full member of SCATLA, ITS Library welcomes all students and faculty from other SCATLA members. But it is highly recommended to contact our library prior to your visit. Please email your information to library@itsla.edu, especially a copy of your student ID or driver's license and your SCATLA card. Please feel free to contact us anytime if you have any questions or concerns.

For non-SCATLA seminary students who wish to borrow books from ITS Library, please contact us first by email or by phone at 626-448-0023, ext. 106. Referral by students, staff or faculty at ITS is highly recommended. Depends on the number of books you borrow, a deposit may be needed.

Yes.  It is highly recommended to email the Vice President of Advancement (asish.mathew@itsla.edu) or the librarian (library@itsla.edu) at ITS first before bringing your book donation to the library. Please see the following guidelines:

What ITS Library accepts:

• Books that are theological and published later than 1985. 
• Hardcovers and paperbacks.
• Books that are like new or in an acceptable condition. 
• Books that are in English, Chinese or Korean.  
• Book display stands and bookends.

What ITS Library does NOT accept:

• Books that are older than 1985, especially reference book sets.
• Fiction, children’s or juvenile literature, booklets/brochures or hymn books.
• Undersized books, magazines, cassette tapes or VHS tapes and audio/video players.
• Books that are heavily damaged or have plenty of un-erasable markings.
• Library shelving and equipment.

What ITS Library may accept:

• Books that are non-fiction, non-theological but relevant to theology.
• Books about the local communities and other religions or denominations.
• Sets of bound journal articles in the areas of theology.
• Bibles or dictionaries in other languages like Hebrew, Greek, Middle Eastern, South or Southeast Asian, or African languages.
• Over-sized theological books.
• CD or DVDs with topics in theology and in English, Chinese or Korean.

Current students can apply for a SCATLA card at the library office.  It is important to check the library hours and have the librarian email all the paperwork to the SCATLA library prior to your visit.

Please note that SCATLA agreements only allow the use of library and borrowing printed materials.  The use of electronic databases is NOT included in the borrowing agreement.

Binding

ITS Library is in charge of sending the theses and dissertations to a bindery. We charge $60 per copy; ITS keeps two copies (one for Academic Dean's office, one for library). You need to have at least one copy for yourself.

The following are the steps of binding theses and dissertations:

1. Please contact your formatting professor for a formatting check. Be sure to correct all formatting mistakes.
2. Buy special paper (business, 20-25lbs, 20-100% cotton) according to the number of pages of your dissertation and number of copies you want.
3. Print out copies of your dissertation; be sure to get ALL signatures on your approval sheets. It is recommended to first submit all copies to the Academic Dean's office for final approval.
4. Fill out the two binding application forms and send them to ITS Library.
5. Submit $60 per copy of the binding fee to the VP of Finance and a copy of your oral defense sheet to ITS Library.
6. It takes 2-3 months to bind in the summer. We cannot bind until we have collected 21 copies of theses/dissertations. Collection day is typically due on June 1st.
7. Please also submit a mailing fee if you are not picking up from ITS.

Digitization
